Feb. 25, 2013, Marmora, Ont. – Exploding canisters added to the danger faced by firefighters who spent about two hours battling a garage fire in a community north of Trenton.

Marmora and Lake Township firefighters responded at 12:30 p.m. Monday after the blaze broke out just north of Deloro.

Fire Chief Tony Brownson says the flames were fuelled by explosions caused by an acetylene oxygen tank and a 45-gallon (170-litre) drum containing an unidentified material.

He says the garage was destroyed, along with two lawn tractors and two snowmobiles that were inside, but the fire didn't spread to a house located a short distance away.

Brownson doesn't have a dollar figure for the damage, and the cause of the blaze hasn't been determined.
