Fire Chief Ed Melanson joins OAFC board of directors

June 18, 2024, Ontario — Fire Chief Ed Melanson is joining the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs board of directors.

Melanson is the fire chief, director of fire services, and community emergency management coordinator for the Saugeen Shores Fire Department.  He is also a current member of the OAFC Health & Safety committee and the Training committee.

Saugeen Shores includes the communities of Port Elgin and Southampton, and consists of two stations, 50 volunteer firefighters, and an eight-member volunteer public education division.

Melanson will fill the seat of retiring board member Fire Chief Mark Berney, who joined in May 2016.
