Chief Kurtis Dyck retires from Martensville Fire Department

June 17, 2024, Martensville, Sask. — Fire Chief Kurtis Dyck from the Martensville Fire Department retired from active duty on May 16.

The Martensville native joined the fire department in 1990 and was promoted to chief in 2012 after serving as deputy chief for five years.

Simultaneously he worked with the Saskatoon Fire Department beginning in 1992, progressing to captain before retiring from the department approximately three years ago, Shanine Sealey reported in the Martensville Messenger.

“Under his command, our service has seen significant growth, acquiring state of the art equipment and training opportunities, which have led to noteworthy advancement in our professionalism and overall capabilities of our fire service,” the Martensville Fire Department said in a social media post.

Dyck is succeeded by former Deputy Chief Dean Brooman.
